In 2019, Borrelli formed the band 13 Seconds with two other middle schoolers that he barely knew and his sister. Bonding over their shared love for songwriting and performance, the band has since become a second family.
The band has played shows and festivals throughout New England, never failing to bring the fun, loud, and humorous energy that defines 13 Seconds. On the stage, the band consists of Anthony Borrelli on guitar and backup vocals, Cole Tometsko on lead vocals, Virginia Borrelli on bass and trombone, and Nick Yee on drums. Anthony Borrelli also records, mixes, and masters a lot of their music.
At a 13 Seconds show, not only are you in for a killer performance, but you get to see a group of best friends have fun and laugh together.
The band has also brought home many awards, including Best Guitarist, Best Band, and Best Original Song from the Hard Rock Cafe 18 and Under Showcase, Top Instrumentalist and Best Band in the Battle of the Bands Grand Finale, and Best Breakup Song in the John Lennon Songwriting Break-Up Songs Contest.
After years of writing and recording, 13 Seconds has finally released their EP Time Flies, giving listeners a creative blend of pop-punk, ska, indie, and singer-songwriter. You can now stream Time Flies on any streaming platform or listen on radio stations and playlists around the world.
Enjoy.
"Famous," the third track on the EP, tells a story of self-drive that Anthony holds close to his heart.
With the opening line, "I'll never be as famous as I want to be," one might quickly assume that "Famous" is a pessimistic song about self-doubt. Yet, it is how others react to this statement, saying that it's "okay" if we can't achieve our greatest ambitions, through which Borrelli reveals his message. While the response of others is meant to be consoling, Anthony expresses how we must not settle for less in the face of adversity and doubt; instead, we must channel disappointment into self-motivation, continuing to strive for our greatest aspirations, even if we feel like they can "never" happen. Whether you desire to become a famous musician or simply a better person, Borrelli urges you not to accept defeat but to push yourself harder even when told it's okay not to.
With Virginia Borrelli on bass, Nick Yee on drums, and Cole Tometsko on backup vocals, "Famous" is a must-have song in your rock playlist.
